Northwest Team Building Expert TIGERS Team Developmental Coaching

Typically, developmental team coaching involves a 60 hour organizational commitment and weekly team leader coaching requiring unwavering support from the Business Owner or Chief Executive Officer and Senior Executives. The expected outcome is a high performing team fully integrated into the organizational structure with clear goals, operational standards, supporting behaviors and process skills to achieve organizational goals, satisfying high quality work, and team bonuses if applicable.

The Coaching Plan involves all of the following supplemented with team and team leader assignments which implement the plan.

Originally created as the first step in building effective teams, it has also evolved into a team strategic planning tool. Through a chaos problem-solving activity, the TIGERS™ Team Wheel teaches teams about six collaborative values (trust, interdependence, genuineness, empathy, risk and success) and the behaviors required to support these values within teams. Because it is "game-like" in nature, the TIGERS Team Wheel is non-threatening, but quickly gets at some very deep issues surrounding the dynamics of the group performing the exercise. After the game is finished, the coach leads the team through a debriefing process to illuminate the participants’ observations and perceptions. The facilitator helps the group connect the findings to team improvement strategies and transfers the concepts and skills learned to the team’s real-life situation and if applicable, individual leadership coaching plans.

Northwest Team Building Expert The TIGERS™ Team Wheel

The TIGERS ™ Team Wheel is an interactive, team-building exercise designed to improve your team's productivity and morale. Originally created as the first step in building a highly effective team, it has also evolved into a strategic planning tool.

Who uses it?

Since the game's debut before the National Institute of Ethics in 1995, the TIGERS™ Team Wheel has been used by manufacturing, engineering, software, and aerospace teams; school site councils, church groups, youth groups and neighborhood organizations; and by family counselors working with blended families.

How does it work?

Through a chaos problem-solving activity, the TIGERS™ Team Wheel teaches teams about six collaborative values and the behaviors required to support healthy and effective group dynamics. Because it is "game-like" in nature it is non-threatening, but quickly gets at some very deep issues surrounding the dynamics of the group performing the exercise. At the start of the game, the group divides into two teams. Each team must assemble a six-piece game board made up of the six values and agree on two pre-printed definitions for each value. Finally, all the teams must agree on the same definitions and board arrangement by the end of the time limit (usually 35 minutes). Right or wrong, everyone must reach consensus by the end of the game. Some facilitators have let the results ride for two days, allowing team members to discuss and change the solution as new information is added throughout the retreat. Therefore, the game is extremely adaptable yet valuable at all solution levels. After the game is finished, a facilitator guides a group discussion on the participants' observations and perceptions. The facilitator helps the group connect the findings to team improvement and transfer the concepts and skills learned to their real-life situation and if applicable, leadership coaching plans.
