We All Have Strengths
We All Have Strengths
Well this week Sir Alan Sugar (SAS) made Lucinda one of the Team Leaders and she showed what she can do, didn’t she? She got involved and managed. Maybe a natural strength of hers?
The other Team Leader was Claire (again chosen by SAS after last weeks farce).
The task this week was to establish two new ice creams and sell them to the trade. Simple?
Laid-Back Management
I thought Lucinda had a nice approach to her Management style. She facilitated, she stood back, she listened and she asked for help. Just because you are in charge does not mean you have to be dictatorial or know all the answers.
Lucinda split her team into two – the sales team and the ice-cream makers. The teams making the ice cream, made it look so easy. The sales team were doing great as well or so we were to believe.
You Carry The Oranges, I’ll Taste The Cider And You Can Just Follow Us Around
Claire divided her team into two, as well. One team making the ice cream and one team (of 3) to get the ingredients. Why does it take three of them to get 50 oranges and some cider? Maybe it takes three people to carry them. Hence, no sales appointments or leads made.
Both products turned out to excellent. A pat on the back for the ice-cream makers.
Lucinda’s team seem to be doing really well. Great ice cream, some sales leads, won a contract with a small chain of cinemas.
Claire’s team seem to be doing badly. They were late for the tasting session and had to ask two lubricated men to do some tasting. No leads and they lost out on the contract with a small chain of cinemas (to the other team).
The program wanted you to think Lucinda’s team had won hands-down, no question. However, I was thinking Claire’s team are going to win. The cameras were showing them in a too negative way.
Who Should Have Gone?
Lindi was fired and rightly so in my opinion. She was never going to make it to be SAS’s Apprentice.
But let’s talk about Jen (“The best salesperson in Europe”). What a cold fish and change that lipstick. Sorry, got carried away there!
Jen might just be what SAS is looking for. She has sales skills, she has a poker face, she is cold, and she does not care about anyone else. Bit like SAS really but better looking!
