Discovering A Leader's Defining Moment

Defining transitions are the greatest opportunities to live life doing what you are meant to do. Unfortunately for most of us, it takes a boulder to get our attention to move on and follow our destiny. The boulder usually is a loss of some kind or someone. Even though a relationship or event may not be a pleasant one, we know what to expect from it. What lies ahead during change is uncertain and scarier than the present experience. But when our thoughts are focusing on what's making us unhappy we actually attract more unhappiness. It is hard to believe that we would attract what we don't want, but our thoughts are energy in motion attracting more of the same.

Confusion is a Moving Target – Now What?

Dramatic transitions that occur beyond our control can stir up emotions of fear, doubt, anxiety and uncertainty. Changes persuade us to move in new directions, yet there is hesitancy to risk moving forward into the unknown. The change may even be a welcomed change. But our comfort zones are strong allies in maintaining the status quo. The past, even though it is gone, is where most people live; using it to make assumptions about the future. The future is unpredictable. Now what?

What To Do When Stricken With Restlessness of the Heart

We are always evolving and restlessness can be a sign that change is in the wind. Check it out as you journal and trust the process. Watch out when you start second guessing what you have written. Second guessing is more than likely the ego resisting change.

Yes You Can Compute Success and Turn Circumstances into Opportunities

It is normal to want to have a life that is fulfilling, happy and abundant. Hanging on to old perspectives and attachments to beliefs that are based on being right rather than happy are limiting, self destructive and keeps you trapped and living a mediocre life when you can have an extraordinary life.

Leadership Tip - Moving Beyond Fear Into Your Leadership Role

Media is bombarding the airwaves with tragic news regarding one financial collapse after another. Fear is being felt throughout the world as a result of fallen financial markets. Reacting to life on the terms of FEAR is giving one’s power away. Remember FEAR is “false evidence appearing real.” There are facts and then there are actions you take from what your heart knows is true. Your heart speaks the truth.

Struggle If You Must During Career Transition, But Why Should You?

To advance forward is to advance to new perspectives by developing new competencies in both soft and hard skills. What is meant by soft and hard skills? I see the hard skills as those that are produced. They are measurable, quantifiable and can be observed outside of self. They have empirical evidence. For example, when a client of mine has a goal to make a career transition into another field of interest and she/he has succeeded, it is obvious to everyone who is familiar with him/her. It is measurable in that the client did break away from one profession and moved into another, which could be seen by others.

Are You Unhappy Doing All the Right Things?

Have you ever been in the spot where you were “suppose” to be happy? The place where everything is going right, but there is this gnawing feeling that just won’t go away? You try to shake off the questionable feeling by drowning it with “doing,” because it doesn’t make logical sense to have this feeling of dissatisfaction when you are successful doing what you are doing. Plus what if what you are doing is really not what you are meant to do? Yet, it is zapping your energy doing what you are “supposed” to be doing.

Leadership Strategy - Remove The Deal Breaker to Success And Happiness

The caveat during transitions, whether personally or new directions professionally, are past beliefs and paradigms fighting against change. The inner saboteurs are in their warring gear standing steadfast to have you believe that it is safer to stay put or you will end up in a worse position. They are determined to convince you that the "right" choice is not to rock the boat otherwise you will sink!
