Business Plan Format
1) myownbusiness.org - Business Plan Format - The Business Plan format is a systematic assessment of all the factors critical to your business purpose and goals. Here are some suggested topics you can tailor into your plan: * A Vision Statement: This will be a concise outline of your business purpose and goals. * The People: By far, the most important ingredient for your success will be yourself. Focus on how your prior experiences will be applicable to your new business. Prepare a résumé of yourself and one for each person who will be involved with you in starting the business. Be factual and avoid hype. This part of your Business Plan will be read very carefully by those with whom you will be having relationships, including lenders, investors and vendors. Templates for preparing résumés are available in your library, Kinko's, bookstores and the Internet under "résumés."

The purpose of a written business plan is twofold: A. It is the preferred mode of communication between those businesses that need capital and those that have capital. B. It can be a useful Management Tool. 1. The procedure forces logic and discipline into the business. 2. The plan establishes concrete objectives and goals, with general parameters to guide the organization. 3. It provides a basis for communicating the company's message · Internally to owners · Internally to employees · Externally to investors, advisors, or customers

4) bplans.com - A Standard Business Plan Outline - There are predictable contents of a standard business plan. For example, a business plan normally starts with an Executive Summary, which should be concise and interesting. People almost always expect to see sections covering the Company, the Market, the Product, the Management Team, Strategy, Implementation and Financial Analysis. If you have the main components, the order doesn’t matter that much, but here’s the order I suggest. 1. Executive Summary: Write this last. It’s just a page or two of highlights. 2. Company Description: Legal establishment, history, start-up plans, etc. 3. Product or Service: Describe what you’re selling. Focus on customer benefits. 4. Market Analysis: You need to know your market, customer needs, where they are, how to reach them, etc. 5. Strategy and Implementation: Be specific. Include management responsibilities with dates and budgets. Make sure you can track results. 6. Web Plan Summary: For e-commerce, include discussion of website, development costs, operations, sales and marketing strategies. 7. Management Team: Describe the organization and the key management team members. 8. Financial Analysis: Make sure to include at the very least your projected Profit and Loss and Cash Flow tables.
